Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer in a hybrid role based in New York. You will own reliability of our data infrastructure, focusing on relational databases (PostgreSQL, Aurora) and self-service automation for datastores, with exposure to NoSQL and streaming systems.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in data platforms, strong SRE mindset, and experience with Terraform, Kafka, and cloud data services. Expect a competitive total package and a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated SRE mindset with automation and self-service tooling.
• Experience across multiple database technologies and data pipelines.
• Hands-on with at least one non-relational data model in production.
• Cloud familiarity with RDS/Redshift/BigQuery or Databricks.
• Experience with Terraform and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build IaC, CLI tools, and CI/CD automation for provisioning and scaling databases.
• Shape high-availability architectures and observability across datastores.
• Collaborate with data and product teams to integrate pipelines and messaging (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Reduce toil through automation and playbooks; own uptime and incident response.
