Job summary

Scion Staffing has been engaged to search for a Senior Data Platform Engineer for an on-site role in Addison, Texas. You will build, operate, and secure a modern Snowflake data platform, developing ingestion pipelines, dbt transformations, dimensional models, and governance controls to turn sensitive operational data into trusted business insights.

The ideal candidate owns the full data lifecycle in a small team, collaborates with a Data Architect, and manages cost, performance, and security.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in data engineering or analytics engineering.
• Advanced SQL skills with dimensional data modeling experience.
• Production experience with dbt and Snowflake in a cloud data warehouse.
• Experience building ingestion pipelines from SQL databases and SaaS/APIs.
• Proficiency with Python and orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory, Dagster, Airflow, or Snowflake Openflow.
• Experience implementing access controls and governance for sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Onboard data from SQL Server databases and SaaS apps via REST APIs, ODBC, SFTP, file feeds, connectors, incremental loading, and CDC.
• Build, maintain, and monitor pipelines across bronze, silver, and gold layers using Snowflake, dbt, SQL, Python, and modern orchestration tools.
• Develop dimensional models including fact and dimension tables with appropriate grain and slowly changing dimensions.
• Manage Snowflake environment: warehouses, roles, resource monitors, performance, cost, reliability, scheduling, dependencies, and failures.
• Protect PHI, PII and other sensitive data with RBAC, masking, row-level access, audit logs, lineage and governance.
• Establish data-quality tests and source-to-warehouse reconciliation; act as a hands-on technical resource for colleagues.
