Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate enterprise data and analytics platform capabilities with emphasis on Snowflake, Azure, and Power BI to enable secure, scalable workloads.

The role focuses on governance, cost-management, and self-service patterns while collaborating with data engineering, security, and operations teams to advance AI-enabled use cases in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Snowflake engineering in an enterprise environment (roles, grants, warehouses, data sharing).
• Experience administering Azure services, identity, networking, monitoring, production support.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI platform administration and governance.
• Automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, version control, and repeatable deployment practices.
• Strong SQL skills and scripting (Python/PowerShell/Java/Scala).
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, security, governance, operations, and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and support enterprise data and analytics platform capabilities across Snowflake, Fabric, Azure, Power BI, and related services.
• Engineer and administer Snowflake databases, schemas, roles, warehouses, and cost controls.
• Develop reusable Snowflake patterns for onboarding, access management, data publication, and governed cross-unit sharing.
• Improve Snowflake performance and cost efficiency through query analysis and resource management.
• Build platform automation, CI/CD pipelines, IaC, scripts, and deployment templates.
• Support Azure administration and platform integration, including identity and networking.
