Job summary

Umbra is seeking a Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer to lead data infrastructure architecture for autonomous satellite operations and analytics. You will design, develop, and maintain data systems that empower analytics and decision-making across product and mission teams.

This on-site role supports multiple US offices, including Santa Barbara/Goleta. You will collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to build scalable pipelines, leverage Databricks, dbt, and lakehouse patterns,

Qualifications

BS in CS, data science, or a related field.
8+ years of professional data engineering experience.
Strong SQL proficiency and data warehousing/lakehouse concepts.
Experience with Python and CI/CD practices; version control.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for large satellite, operations, and business data.
Develop data models, warehouses, lakehouse architectures, and dbt transformations for analytics and ML use.
Build analytics capabilities using Databricks, dbt, and cloud services; ensure data quality and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and governance.
