Job summary

Horizon3 is seeking a Senior or Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and own the data platform powering our production pipelines, analytics, and Tableau reporting. You’ll scale from warehouse to orchestration and BI across regions.

You will shape our data strategy, own production data infrastructure end-to-end, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, observable data systems at scale in a remote-friendly, fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering craft with clean, correct, maintainable code.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and data architecture, batch vs. streaming, CDC, multi-region trade-offs.
• Fluent SQL and data-modeling skills for warehouse design.
• Experience owning production data infrastructure end-to-end.
• Strong collaboration and ownership across dependent teams.
• 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, infra engineering, or backend software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines feeding warehouse and BI tooling like Tableau.
• Operate core data infrastructure: data warehouse, orchestration, and BI reporting across regions.
• Evaluate and shape warehouse strategy including lakehouse platforms (Databricks).
• Define and evolve contracts between producers/consumers; manage batch vs streaming, CDC, reprocessing, and multi-region trade-offs.
• Design and evolve warehouse schemas and data models.
• Build observability into pipelines and platform components.
• Drive cross-team programs; communicate clearly and own outcomes end-to-end.
