Job summary

Tessera Labs is hiring a Data Platform Engineer to build software that connects enterprise systems and makes data usable across applications, analytics, and AI. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering and data systems, creating reusable capabilities for data access, movement, and processing.

Remote-friendly with a preference for Bay Area candidates. You will develop core data platform capabilities, APIs, and connector frameworks, while optimizing performance and ensuring

Qualifications

• Strong Python and SQL, with experience building maintainable, tested production software.
• Experience developing backend services, data infrastructure, or data platform components beyond configuring pipelines.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, query optimization, data formats, and tradeoffs between querying data in place and materializing elsewhere.
• Experience with concurrent or distributed workloads, including failure handling, resource management, and performance debugging.
• Ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and turn complex requirements into clear, practical designs.

Responsibilities

• Build core data platform capabilities and APIs for data access, query execution, ingestion, and synchronization.
• Make integrations reusable with connector frameworks and abstractions for different systems.
• Improve performance and resource efficiency through partitioning, parallelism, and memory/storage management.
• Own execution reliability with orchestration, retries, checkpointing, and observability for recoverability and data correctness.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to define interfaces and architectural tradeoffs.
