Job summary

Massive is hiring a data-focused engineer to take raw market data and turn it into fast, well-modeled datasets with a robust API surface. You will own end-to-end transformations, from ingestion to curated layers, ensuring speed and reliability for customers.

You will work across data modeling, cleanup, and performance tuning, collaborating with product and AI teams to deliver usable data products at scale in a hands-on, full-stack capacity.

Qualifications

• Strong Python and SQL skills with advanced joins, window functions and analytical queries.
• Experience modeling analytical data and deciding normalization vs denormalization.
• Proven track record of improving table and query performance.
• Hands-on with modern analytical engines or lakehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
• Deep knowledge of columnar formats (Parquet, Iceberg) and object storage (S3 compatible).
• You take ambiguous problems, break them down, and ship a working solution.
• Familiar with AI coding tools to assist parsing and scaffolding.

Responsibilities

• Model data entities, relationships, and grains for fast, scalable datasets.
• Build and own the transformation layer in Python and SQL for cleaning and normalization.
• Ingest from external APIs, handle rate limits, pagination, and backfills.
• Preserve raw provider data and build curated layers on top.
• Design partitioning, file layouts, and indexes for speed, and review query plans.
• Partner with product to shape API surface and query semantics for customers.
• Collaborate with Data Science/AI teams on features and dataset versions.
