Job summary

CB&I is seeking a senior Data Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and optimize enterprise data platforms and pipelines. You will support reporting, analytics, automation, and AI initiatives and collaborate with Global IT and stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions.

The role requires 15+ years in data and application experience, with 10+ years in data engineering, hands-on ETL/ELT, data modeling, and cloud platforms. Strong programming, SQL, and governance expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, or equivalent required; Master’s preferred.
• 15+ years of general data and application experience; 10+ years in data engineering with ETL/ELT and data modeling.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and C#; solid SQL expertise.
• Extensive experience with data pipeline tools and cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Synapse, Databricks.
• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB and data visualization tools.
• Proven ability to lead data governance, security, and compliance initiatives; effective communicator.
• Experience managing service provider relationships and delivering data engineering projects in teams.
• Industry experience in Architecture, Engineering and Construction is a plus; relevant certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set data management requirements and select suitable data platform technologies.
• Design robust, scalable data pipelines and establish data architecture standards.
• Establish data quality, security, and governance across enterprise data.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to secure data infrastructure.
• Work with analysts and stakeholders to provide clean datasets for analytics and AI initiatives.
• Optimize data systems for performance, scale, and cost efficiency; troubleshoot pipelines.
• Model data using star schema and dimensional models to support reporting.
• Automate repetitive data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Document data pipelines, processes, and system architectures in detail.
• Provide technical leadership across initiatives and mentor teams on data engineering best practices.
