You will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining the data warehouse environments on cloud as well as On-premises, where data pipelines and analytical workloads are hosted. Your focus will be on the scalability, security, and cost-efficiency of our shared data platforms. Role requires hands‑on scripting experience using Python and a design first approach to deliver technical artefacts. This role will be responsible to integrate applications and hosting platforms through automation and awareness of data warehousing ecosystem. Key Responsibilities
- Architect, provision, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure cloud environments on AWS, optimized for data-intensive workloads.
- Establish and maintain "guardrails" including IAM, security policies, naming conventions, and resource tagging.
- Enforce operational practices by monitoring, auditing, and optimizing cloud compute (e.g., EC2, EMR, Snowflake) and storage (e.g., S3) to manage costs.
- Build reusable deployment patterns and CI/CD automation to facilitate environment provisioning for the Data Engineering team.
- Manage infrastructure lifecycle using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Monitor platform health, manage alerts, and troubleshoot system‑level bottlenecks to ensure high availability for batch and streaming data pipelines.
Data Platform Maintenance
- Administer, patch, and upgrade distributed data processing frameworks and engines (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Kafka, Polaris).
- Own the database administration lifecycle for cloud-native data stores, including backup/recovery, query optimization, and HA/DR (High Availability/Disaster Recovery).
- Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud operations, mentoring junior engineers and assisting Data engineers with environment access and permissions.
- Strong hands‑on experience with AWS networking, including VPCs, public and private subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, Security Groups, NACLs, VPC endpoints, and PrivateLink, with the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues end to end.
- Proven production experience running Spark on EMR Serverless, including application tuning, worker sizing, custom images, private subnet setup, execution roles, troubleshooting with Spark UI and CloudWatch, and orchestration from Airflow.
- Advanced Snowflake administration experience covering RBAC, warehouses, cost controls, security policies, query tuning, and integration with Apache Iceberg tables on S3 through catalogs such as Polaris and Glue.
- Very strong automation and scripting skills in Python, with a track record of automating platform operations such as provisioning, job submission, monitoring, cost reporting, and access management using boto3, AWS Lambda, and containerized solutions.
- Solid knowledge of IAM roles and policies, cross‑account access, KMS encryption, Secrets Manager, and resource tagging, with experience enforcing these guardrails to meet compliance standards.
- Partner with Data Engineering team, Data Strategy team, and Compliance teams to ensure data platforms comply with regulatory and compliance standards.
