Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Data Modeler with deep expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and P&C insurance data domains. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and solution architects to design, develop, and maintain enterprise data models that support underwriting, claims, policy, billing, and other core functions of a P&C insurance carrier.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support operational and analytical needs.
Create and maintain data models that align with industry standards (e.g., ACORD) and internal architecture frameworks.
Collaborate with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and finance teams to understand business data requirements.
Translate complex business requirements into efficient and scalable data structures.
Ensure data models are optimized for performance, integrity, and scalability.
Support data integration initiatives across source systems, data lakes, and data warehouses.
Work with data governance teams to define data standards, dictionaries, and metadata.
Document data models, mappings, and lineage using tools such as ER/Studio, Erwin, or PowerDesigner.
Mentor junior modelers and analysts on best practices in data design and modeling.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in data modeling, with at least 3+ years in the Property & Casualty Insurance domain.
Deep understanding of P&C insurance data including policy, claims, billing, and customer data.
Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling techniques.
Strong command of SQL and experience working with data warehouses, relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience working with data modeling tools like Erwin, ER/Studio, or similar.
Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline collaboration.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks).
Familiarity with insurance data models (e.g., ACORD, IBM Insurance Data Warehouse).
Understanding of data lake and lakehouse architecture.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
