Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking an experienced analyst to lead data labeling projects in support of machine learning research. You will manage labeling standards, workflows, and quality criteria while mentoring junior analysts and interns to ensure accurate, timely delivery of high-quality labeled data.

Responsibilities include coordinating labeling teams, developing guidelines and taxonomies, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and information

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading or performing data labeling, annotation, or data preparation for machine learning projects.
• Past success leading, mentoring, or coordinating a team, including junior staff and/or interns.
• Data quality principles and quality control methods (e.g., inter-annotator agreement, audit workflows).

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data labeling projects, defining standards, workflows, quality criteria, and acceptance thresholds.
• Perform data labeling and annotation across data types with high quality and consistency.
• Mentor and coordinate a team of junior analysts and interns, assign work, review output, and ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
