Scribd, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead a team building trusted, reusable data products powering analytics, experimentation, AI, and decision-making.

You’ll guide architecture, review designs, and contribute hands-on where your expertise creates leverage, shaping data governance and platform evolution. You’ll collaborate with the Principal Data Engineer and Director of Data Platform, balancing delivery with long-term architectural thinking to deliver high-impact data

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Data Engineering, Data Platform, or related roles.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams with coaching and PM.
• Deep expertise building scalable data platforms and pipelines.
• Strong data modeling, architecture, and reusable datasets.
• Proficient in SQL and Python/Scala; familiar with Spark.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms (Databricks, Delta Lake, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Proven ability leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to production.
• Experience guiding technical architecture discussions and reviews.
• Excellent communication and influence across multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, delivery, and people leadership for the Data Engineering team.
• Establish engineering standards for data modeling, pipelines, reliability, and observability.
• Drive architecture discussions and design reviews to guide engineers.
• Lead execution across multiple initiatives with clear problem framing and priorities.
• Coach and grow a team of Data Engineers emphasizing ownership and collaboration.
• Partner with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
• Build cross-functional relationships and balance short-term delivery with long-term data foundations.
• Collaborate with Data Platform Engineering to evolve platform capabilities for scalable development.
