Job summary

Jobtailor in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a data engineer to design, build, test, and support ETL/ELT pipelines that populate Snowflake on AWS. You will transform customer data, develop models with dbt and Matillion, and contribute to Agile delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or a related technical role.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with SQL-based data platforms and ETL/ELT development.
• Experience with modern cloud or MPP data environments, such as Snowflake.
• Working knowledge of AWS, dbt, Matillion, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure DevOps, or comparable tools.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java.
• Ability to solve straightforward technical problems using established processes with moderate guidance.
• Cloud or data engineering certifications are a plus.
• Experience with big data processing frameworks or platforms, such as Spark, is a plus.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and support ETL/ELT data pipelines ingesting and transforming customer data into Snowflake on AWS
• Develop and maintain data transformations and models using dbt and Matillion
• Execute Agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, development, testing, and deployment
• Use Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices
• Collaborate with senior data engineers, architects, and business partners to understand requirements and deliver reliable customer data assets
• Use approved AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and efficiency
• Adhere to data governance, security, and quality standards
• Support Pacific Life’s customer data platform and ongoing customer data initiatives
