Job summary

Leidos is seeking a data engineering professional to join a brand-new Agile development team in our Digital Sector to support federal IT modernization at a secure Washington, DC facility.

You will design and optimize data pipelines, integrate Kafka, Elastic Stack, AWS, and Red Hat OpenShift, and collaborate across analysts and developers to enable analytics and dashboards for mission-critical operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Current Security+ or higher/equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• Experience with data warehouses/lakes (e.g., AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, Snowflake).
• Proficiency with Python, Java, SQL, and shell scripting.
• Experience with Elastic Stack and/or Kafka for ingestion/processing.
• Knowledge of network operations data and related data models.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX and automation.
• Knowledge of DoD security frameworks and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data systems and pipelines for analytics and reporting.
• Unifies data from multiple systems into a consistent platform with quality, security, and compliance.
• Implements solutions using Confluent Kafka, Elastic Stack, AWS, and OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Develops data warehouses and data lakes for analytics and dashboards, optimizing performance and cost.
• Optimizes ingestion throughput, query performance, indexing, and storage across Elastic and Kafka.
• Automates ETL/ELT processes, data validation, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborates with analysts and visualization engineers and documents architecture and procedures.
• Troubleshoots data ingestion, processing, and platform performance issues.
