CGI Federal in Arlington, VA, seeks a Senior Data Engineer (Secret Cleared) to architect, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and enterprise data models across bronze, silver, and gold layers. You will implement medallion architecture and support agile data solutions for complex analytics.

This role emphasizes ETL/ELT design, data modeling, and collaboration with data scientists and analysts to enable trusted insights, BI readiness, and efficient data operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4-8 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, and production pipeline support.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing, transformation, and automation.
• Experience with distributed processing engines and scalable compute frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark).
• Hands-on experience with Databricks or Azure Synapse.
• Deep proficiency in data modeling, schema design, and medallion/lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with cloud native data services across major cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to articulate technical concepts to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Pipeline Development: design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
• Data Modeling: architect, implement, and maintain data models across bronze, silver, and gold layers.
• Data Transformation: develop robust transformation workflows for curated datasets.
• Optimization: tune data workflows for performance, cost, reliability, and scalability.
• Data Quality & Governance: implement data quality checks, metadata standards, and lineage tracking.
• Reporting Support: enable data visualizations and BI reporting by providing curated data.
• Collaboration: work with data scientists and analysts to define data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
