Mode.Inc, a remote-first tech company, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate Mode Mobile’s data platform handling billions of events daily.

You will work with engineering, data science, analytics, growth, and business leaders to ensure data is reliable, secure, scalable, and actionable.

This hands-on role requires production-experience, accountability, and a passion for shaping data architecture as Mode expands across products and acquisitions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, operating, and owning live production data systems.
• Expert-level SQL skills.
• Hands-on with Spark, Kafka, and modern data processing frameworks.
• Experience with AWS data infrastructure and IaC tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead large-scale data pipelines and data lakes.
• Design real-time and batch processing solutions.
• Ensure data quality with ETL/ELT patterns and observability.
• Own data systems in production with uptime and reliability.
• Collaborate with product and analytics teams to deliver data solutions.
