Job summary

Visa is seeking a Staff Data Engineer in Austin to design, implement, and improve data systems that power fintech solutions. You will work hands-on with code, data, and modern tools, collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and compliance to deliver scalable technology solutions.

Role requires 5+ years of experience and strong data pipeline design, CI/CD, and security practices. The position emphasizes in-office work with a minimum three days on-site per week.

Qualifications

• Experience designing data pipelines and large-scale data processing jobs.
• Experience writing, modifying, and reviewing high-quality, testable code.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and deploying applications using containerization and orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key participant in meetings with stakeholders to identify and clarify requirements and determine business needs.
• Independently understand data ecosystems, security, privacy, and retention requirements to support features.
• Translate functional requirements into architecture designs and communicate them to Data Engineers.
• Own data products or data pipelines end-to-end, including technical debt mitigation and documentation.
• Identify and conduct required testing for moderately complex use cases, including unit testing and security scans.
• Build tools and automation to transform, manage, and monitor data processes in batch and real time.
• Write queries to extract data across end-to-end pipelines and implement orchestration for data extraction.
