Job summary

Webcreek is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Houston, TX to design, build, and support enterprise-grade backend and data solutions. You will develop Python-based services, RESTful APIs with FastAPI, and scalable ETL/data workflows while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Strong SQL, CI/CD, Elastic Stack, and AI-assisted tooling experience are valued. On-site role with opportunities to influence architecture, data governance, and production reliability within a rapidly growing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, backend development, or enterprise data applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Required experience with FastAPI.
• Solid experience with relational databases and strong SQL skills.
• Working knowledge of non-relational databases.
• Experience designing ETL pipelines and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as GitHub and Jenkins.
• Familiarity with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, APM).
• Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support backend services and data solutions using Python.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs with FastAPI.
• Design and implement enterprise-level data architecture aligned to requirements.
• Work with relational databases; write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries.
• Support non-relational databases when appropriate.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines and event-driven systems at scale.
• Collaborate with application, data, business, QA teams, and stakeholders.
• Support CI/CD and development automation with GitHub and Jenkins.
• Use Elastic Stack for log aggregation, search, monitoring, and APM visibility.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to APIs, data flows, and reliability.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to support design and coding decisions.
