Job summary

iDC Logistics in California seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own and operate a production data platform, including environments, database administration, security, and CI-driven deployments. You will build staging and gold dbt models, ensure alignment with legacy reporting, and review code for quality.

Applicants should have 7+ years in data engineering, strong SQL and Python production experience, and familiarity with modern transformation frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and data warehouse solutions.
• SQL at working depth: joins, window functions, grain and aggregation tradeoffs, NULL semantics.
• Production Python in a real environment.
• Owned production data pipelines and their diagnosis/fix.
• Experience with a modern transformation framework (dbt preferred; others qualify).
• Production operations including deployments, environment management, and incident response.
• Dimensional modeling: grains, facts, dimensions, conformance, slowly-changing history.
• Git-based workflow: branching, PRs, CI as standard.

Responsibilities

• Production operations and platform health: environment setup, orchestration, monitoring, incident response.
• Database administration: security roles, grants, performance, maintenance.
• Deployment and CI: pipeline automation and environment promotion for reliable releases.
• Modeling and transformation delivery: build dbt models with tests against business semantics.
• Code review: review teammates’ work and AI-generated code for correctness.
• Reverse-engineering source systems: absorb legacy and vendor schemas.
• Report and billing parity: ensure new outputs match legacy systems.
