Job summary

Cognizant in the United States, Arizona, Phoenix is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for Snowflake and Lakehouse work. You will design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions powering analytics and decision-making across the enterprise, collaborating with analytics teams, data scientists, and platform engineers.

You will implement Snowflake features, batch and streaming ingestion, and Open Lakehouse architectures using Iceberg, Snowpark, and dbt.

Qualifications

• 5+ years delivering data engineering solutions with Snowflake in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on Snowflake capabilities: warehouses, security roles, tasks, performance tuning.
• Experience with batch and real-time ingestion using Snowpipe and Snowpipe Streaming.
• Proficiency with dbt for transformations, testing, and version-controlled development.
• Snowpark with Python and Spark for scalable data processing.
• Kafka/CDC pipelines integrated with Snowflake.
• Experience with AWS (S3, IAM, Glue, Lambda) for data platforms.
• Advanced SQL, data modeling, and Lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with dynamic tables, orchestration, and CI/CD for data projects.
• GIT-based source control and governance in Snowflake environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable batch and near real-time data ingestion pipelines with Snowpipe.
• Develop robust data transformation frameworks and curated data models with dbt.
• Build and optimize data processing using Snowpark (Python and Spark) for ML use cases.
• Implement Dynamic Tables, Snowflake Tasks, and workflow orchestration.
• Design and maintain Iceberg-based Lakehouse architectures for open data platforms.
• Integrate Kafka streams and CDC sources into Snowflake for real-time analytics.
• Monitor data platform health, optimize warehouse utilization, and control costs.
• Establish data quality, schema validation, testing, and operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define data contracts and governance standards.
• Create architecture diagrams and data lineage artifacts; maintain technical docs.
