Job summary

Harris County Public Health seeks a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and maintenance of data pipelines and a data warehouse. You will guide data integration efforts, model data for analytics, and ensure secure handling of health information.

The role reports to the DevOPS Manager in the Operation and Technology Services Office and involves collaboration with analytics teams to deliver reliable datasets for reporting and decision-making. This is a grant-funded position in Houston.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• 5+ years of experience with Stored Procedures, CTEs, Pivots, and other advanced RDBMS tasks.
• 5+ years of experience with SSIS.
• 3+ years of experience practicing agile principles.
• 3+ years of working with HIPAA protected data.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and build out data warehouse and analytics environment.
• Develop data pipelines, collection systems, and data models that support data analysis and reporting needs.
• Research ways to improve data collection and processing.
• Collaborate with data analytics teams across Harris County Public Health to provide efficient and relevant datasets.
• Share knowledge to compliment team-wide expertise.
• Communicate project status, risks, milestones, and assigned roles and responsibilities to cross-departmental stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned including tasks during emergency events.
