Astyra Corporation is seeking a Senior Data Engineer – Generative AI for a hybrid role based in Richmond, VA. You will design a data reconciliation utility to compare data across legacy and modernized platforms, using Generative AI and MCP-enabled services.

You will build hands-on Python solutions, work with LangGraph for agentic workflows, and collaborate with senior engineers to accelerate modernization initiatives while ensuring data validation and production readiness.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
• Experience building solutions using Generative AI.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience with LangGraph or similar agentic AI frameworks.
• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), including consuming MCP services.
• Experience building data comparison, reconciliation, pattern detection, or data validation.

In this position, you will build a data reconciliation solution that compares information between legacy and modernized platforms, combining core data engineering with hands‑on work in Generative AI.

The work focuses on detecting discrepancies and nuanced differences across large datasets, while also integrating agentic and workflow‑based components using modern AI frameworks and Model Context Protocol (MCP).

What you’ll do

• Design and develop a data reconciliation utility to compare data across legacy and modernized platforms
• Create solutions that identify data discrepancies, patterns, anomalies, and nuanced differences across large datasets
• Use Generative AI, pattern matching, regex, and related techniques to improve data comparison and reconciliation
• Build hands‑on implementations using Python and modern Generative AI frameworks

Skills and experience

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Strong hands‑on background in data engineering
• Demonstrated experience building solutions using Generative AI
• Strong Python development skills
• Hands‑on experience with LangGraph or similar agentic AI frameworks
• Experience working with Model Context Protocol (MCP), including consuming MCP services
• Experience building solutions involving data comparison, reconciliation, pattern detection, or data validation
• Strong understanding of data processing and transformation concepts
• Experience developing production‑quality solutions within modern CI/CD environments
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in a hands‑on engineering role

Preferred qualifications

• Experience supporting large‑scale technology or data modernization initiatives
• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments
• Experience developing AI‑enabled data engineering utilities or automation solutions
• Familiarity with Spark or other distributed data‑processing technologies
• Previous experience in a large enterprise engineering environment
