Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (GCP) for a freelance 18-month engagement in the NYC area. Remote work with 1–2 visits to the office per month. You will build and maintain scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, supporting data, product analytics and AI initiatives.

The role requires deep GCP expertise (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow), strong Python and SQL skills, and experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer. US citizenship is required with no visa sponsorship available.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data stack.
• Proficiency in BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and Dataflow.
• Strong Python and SQL for data pipeline development.
• Experience orchestrating workflows with Airflow / Cloud Composer.
• Exposure to AI tooling such as Vertex AI, Gemini, Claude Code or CodeX is a strong plus.
• Comfortable working independently and picking up context quickly in a fast-moving environment.
• Must be a US Citizen; no visa sponsorship available.
