Job summary

Qubika is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with deep Google Cloud Platform experience to act as a technical anchor for the team. You will design and mentor while delivering scalable data pipelines in an Agile setting with distributed teams.

The role requires hands-on production data engineering, strong SQL, Python/Java, and expertise across BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Kafka. Excellent communication in English is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering or data architecture, focused on big data and production-scale systems.
• Extensive production experience with GCP: BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage and related services.
• Production experience with Confluent Kafka or Google Pub/Sub.
• Advanced SQL and strong experience with Dataform (dbt also counts).
• Experience with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Production experience with at least one transactional database: Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Python or Java for pipeline development and automation.
• Solid understanding of ingestion, data warehousing and medallion/layered architecture.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum with distributed teams.
• Strong communication skills and advanced English.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver scalable batch and streaming pipelines with BigQuery, Dataform, Dataflow, Confluent Kafka and Pub/Sub.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies (planning, standups, retros, grooming) and deliver in iterative sprints.
• Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver production-ready solutions.
• Define and enforce best practices: coding standards, code reviews, testing strategies and technical documentation.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through design reviews and substantive code feedback.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline issues, resolving them quickly with minimal business impact.
• Keep up with industry trends and recommend improvements to the platform and practices.
