Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Data Engineer 5 in its Enterprise Risk Management group to drive transformation across data platforms and cloud-first solutions. You’ll collaborate with Agile teams, shape architectures, and deliver scalable data pipelines.

The role requires a strong background in Python/Spark, SQL, and modern data warehousing with Snowflake and Databricks, plus experience building end-to-end data solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 6 years of experience in application development.
• At least 4 years of experience in distributed data.
• At least 4 years of experience with SQL.
• At least 4 years of experience programming with Python, Java, or Scala.
• At least 4 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines.
• At least 2 years of experience in data modeling and designing end-to-end data solutions using relational and non-relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack data solutions.
• Influence a team of developers, data analysts and data scientists with experience in ML, distributed microservices, lakehouse architecture, and full-stack systems.
• Utilize Python and Spark, with SQL and NoSQL databases and cloud-based data warehousing platforms including Databricks and Snowflake.
• Mentor others and share trends in data technologies and communities.
• Deliver robust cloud-first data solutions that empower millions of Americans financially.
• Independently design, build and deliver world-class data solutions with minimal supervision.
• Architect and enforce common data engineering design patterns for quality and reuse.
• Communicate technical concepts and data outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
• Design scalable, resilient data pipelines and platforms.
• Balance hands-on contributions with mentoring to elevate team skills.
• Lead end-to-end large-scale data initiatives and evaluate platform choices such as Snowflake vs Databricks.
