Job summary

Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) seeks an experienced data engineer to design, maintain, and optimize data storage systems supporting multiple stakeholders across projects for US Navy and other government customers.

The role covers relational database development, data-quality verification, and automated checks, using DDS, SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, or Oracle, with Python, Java, or C++. Strong data modeling and data-integrity focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong technical abilities to solve complex data problems.
• Proficient with DDS, SQL, and database technologies (PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with data modeling, schema/version management, transaction processing, indexing, and query optimization.
• Familiar with JSON, XML, or Avro data formats.
• Knowledge of data verification, provenance, and configuration control.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain relational database schemas, stored procedures, queries, and data interfaces.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes and validation routines.
• Verify data integrity across system boundaries and implement automated checks.
• Support requirements traceability, test automation, logging/auditing, and cybersecurity controls.
• Assist with backup/recovery and root-cause analysis of data-related defects.
• Validate data exchanged through messaging middleware, APIs, DDS/Kafka, and containers.
