Job summary

Preply is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in the Data Ingestion and Enrichment team to design and own the data layer powering analytics, ML, and product. You will work with ML Platform, Analytics, and Product squads to ensure production-ready datasets and pipelines, balancing reliability, scalability, and cost.

You will build ingestion pipelines, implement data contracts, and drive governance and standardisation across domains, enabling cross-team collaboration and data-driven decisions at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience building architectural patterns for large-scale applications.
• Leadership in platform or data engineering with multi-stakeholder deliveries.
• Cloud experience on AWS or GCP and modern DevOps practices.
• Hands-on with real-time and batch data processing using Spark, Flink, Kafka, Debezium.
• Expertise with orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive improvement mindset.
• Excellent English communication (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Design and own the data lake and data as a product.
• Build and operate scalable batch and streaming ingestion pipelines.
• Define data contracts, validation, lineage, and quality checks.
• Implement enrichment, modeling, and lifecycle management across domains.
• Instrument pipelines with observability and reliability metrics.
• Apply governance, privacy by design, and auditable data flows.
• Develop self-service templates and standardised tooling for onboarding data sources.
• Collaborate with Product, Backend, Analytics, and ML teams.
