Capital One is hiring a Data Engineer 5 in Chicago to join a dynamic, collaborative team focused on transforming data platforms with cloud-first architectures. You will design and deliver end-to-end data solutions, mentor teammates, and influence across engineers, data scientists and product managers.

You’ll work with Python, Spark, SQL, and modern data warehouses like Databricks and Snowflake to enable scalable, resilient data pipelines and actionable insights for millions of Americans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related quantitative field
• At least 6 years of application development experience
• At least 4 years of distributed data experience
• At least 4 years of SQL experience
• At least 4 years of programming in Python, Java, or Scala
• At least 4 years of designing and developing data pipelines
• At least 2 years of data modeling experience with relational and non-relational systems

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support data solutions
• Influence a team of developers, data analysts and data scientists
• Use Python, Spark, SQL and cloud data warehousing platforms (Databricks, Snowflake)
• Design and deliver cloud-first data solutions
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to drive data experiences
• Architect data pipelines and enforce reusable design patterns
• Communicate data outcomes to stakeholders
• Lead large-scale data initiatives end-to-end
