Job summary

Riot Games is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models for Riot’s Central Product Insights. You will publish activity data systems and support player onboarding, engagement, support efficiency, and content effectiveness.

Collaboration with product managers, analysts, and engineers ensures reliable, performant data infrastructure aligned with player experiences.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in tech-focused Publishing or Marketing fields.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
• Design and implement data models capturing in- and out-of-game experiences.
• Architect and implement robust, maintainable, high-performance data solutions.
• Automate workflows to improve data processing efficiency across content, growth, and pubsports areas.
• Mentor data engineers across levels and foster best practices.
• Optimize query performance and resolve pipeline bottlenecks.
• Evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
• Support cost optimization by ensuring scalable data solutions.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA).
• Contribute to Riot’s Data Engineering standards and tooling.
