Job summary

eHealth, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead scalable data pipelines and ML‑ready data solutions. You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

You will mentor engineers, define governance standards, and drive analytics initiatives that power critical decisions. The role emphasizes cloud‑native architectures, real‑time processing, and strong coding practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience; 3+ years with a Master’s; or equivalent combination.
• Expert‑level SQL for complex queries on large datasets.
• Strong Python or Scala programming with CI/CD and testing practices.
• Experience architecting cloud‑native data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks).
• Deep knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks (dbt, Spark, Matillion).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Hive).
• Experience with AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, EMR).
• Data modeling, governance, and security; ability to set standards.
• Mentoring engineers and leading initiatives.
• Excellent communication to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on data ecosystem and guide architecture across teams.
• Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines and real‑time streaming using Spark, Kafka, dbt.
• Design and drive workflow automation with Airflow or Matillion.
• Lead design for production ML pipelines and APIs serving model predictions.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Ensure data quality, observability, lineage, and governance.
• Collaborate with DevOps on platform performance and security.
• Evaluate new data tools and make build‑vs‑buy recommendations.
