Job summary

Hyperbolic is hiring its first dedicated Data Engineer to build the data infrastructure from 0 to 1. You will own the data warehouse, the pipelines feeding it, and the tooling to keep it healthy, while partnering with data analysts and engineers to ensure reliable, fast, and cost-efficient data.

Expect rapid growth as new products and data sources launch. You will work with Redshift, Postgres, Hex, and Polytomic, shaping data models for new lines like spot and inference, and ensuring governance

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining a data warehouse ingesting data from multiple sources.
• Ability to design data models for new business lines as products come online.
• Experience ensuring data reliability through testing, documentation, and governance.
• Familiarity with data lakes and data warehouses, and when to use each.
• Deep knowledge of Postgres, including partitioning and data archival.
• Experience working with large datasets.
• Experience supporting production systems: monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Strong communication skills and the judgment to push back on requests that would add tech debt.

Responsibilities

• Own the data warehouse, the pipelines that feed it, and the tooling that keeps it healthy.
• Build data infrastructure as products grow, integrating new data sources and enabling BI/reporting.
• Sit between data analysts and engineering to ensure data is reliable, fast, and cost-efficient.
• Maintain the current data stack (Redshift, Postgres, Hex, Polytomic) and scale as needed.
