Thrivent Financial is seeking a Staff Engineer (e-ST) to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka. The role emphasizes scalable, reliable, and governed data solutions with cloud integration.

You will mentor engineers, participate in architecture discussions, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to elevate data capabilities across the enterprise. This role supports telecommuting from a home office anywhere in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS/CS or related field; 6+ years data engineering.
• 6+ years Data Engineering with Spark and Hadoop.
• 5+ years Python/Java/Scala and designing big data solutions with Spark/Hadoop.
• 4+ years building data pipelines, CI/CD, BI, and data warehouse modelling.
• 3+ years building data pipelines with Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka.
• 2+ years with Streamsets, Bamboo; cloud: AWS/Azure/GC; Docker, Terraform; Lambdas.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
• Ensure pipelines are scalable, reliable, secure, and governed.
• Collaborate with end users and cross‑functional teams to improve data processes.
• Lead, mentor, and review code; contribute to data architecture across the enterprise.
