Job summary

Heartland Technology Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize data infrastructure for BI reporting and analytics. You will lead ETL processes, architect data warehouses, and ensure scalable, secure data delivery across client environments.

Role requires strong SQL Server, Azure data services, and Microsoft BI skills, plus client-facing experience. You will collaborate with BI developers and data teams to improve data strategies and throughput.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a technology-related role.
• Data Model Design (Physical or Conceptual or both).
• Experience with needs analysis, software evaluation and selection, customization, and implementation.
• Data warehousing systems and architecture experience in real-world implementations.
• Understand multi-dimensional/relational database structures and schemas.
• Strong knowledge of system design, development, and deployment.
• Microsoft BI Suite Experience (Excel, SSIS, Azure Data Factory).
• Programming and processing experience (T-SQL, ETL).
• Azure Experience in Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Manage Instance.
• Strong knowledge of SQL utilizing MS SQL Server.
• Expertise in professional services or similar client-facing roles.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to understand their business processes and needs for data strategy guidance.
• Collaborate with BI Data Developers to ensure requirements are met.
• Support and administer client data environment infrastructure and layout.
• Design processes for data collection and analytics.
• Develop policies for data collection and analysis.
• Review data sources for data integrity.
• Estimate development effort for customer data needs.
• Mentor engineers in building scalable, secure BI and data solutions.
• Meet annual billable hour goals.
