Job summary

Wolverine Worldwide, Inc. is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the design, development, and deployment of Microsoft Fabric and Azure data solutions, while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring quality and governance across data platforms.

You will lead cross‑functional teams on data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, and enterprise data warehousing, shape requirements with management, and provide 24/7 on‑call support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of proven experience in the design and implementation of data warehouse architecture, data delivery, data modeling, ETL tools, MDM, and automated/documented solutions.
• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Cloud Data Platform solutions: Fabric OneLake, Azure Synapse, DevOps, Data Factory, Pipelines, Notebooks.
• Experience with monitoring/optimization tools: Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Fabric metrics.
• Strong Medallion Architecture modeling, Python programming and data processing (dataframes, Spark), SQL performance optimization.
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to mentor others in cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Fabric and Azure data solutions.
• Mentor and develop junior data engineers and ensure solution quality and governance.
• Interface with management, customers, and team members to determine requirements.
• Estimate work effort and delivery timelines for projects across teams.
• Provide guidance on data governance, security, and privacy in the cloud.
• Lead problem solving for performance, usage, and support activities.
• Write system documentation and conduct user training.
• Oversee disaster recovery initiatives and change-management standards.
• Drive service delivery improvements in reliability, availability, and cost.
