Job summary

United Therapeutics in RTP, NC, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks and Azure Data Factory to support enterprise data warehousing and analytics.

You will work with stakeholders to provide access controls, monitor daily data processing, and collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and other teams to deliver data solutions. Mentors will guide junior engineers and review external consultant work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining EDW and pipelines with a Bachelor’s Degree
• 3+ years of data architecting and engineering delivering complex data solutions
• 3+ years of Tier 1 SaaS integration work (e.g. Salesforce) or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience working with AppDev and/or BI/AI teams
• Advanced SQL skills with complex queries, tuning, and stored procedures
• Hands-on production experience with Azure Databricks (Spark, notebooks, Delta Lake)
• Hands-on production experience with Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT pipelines)
• Proficiency in cloud platforms – Azure preferred
• Proficiency in Python
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts
• Experience with BI/analytic platforms
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

Responsibilities

• Provide access and security controls for data platforms
• Maintain daily data processing operations with monitoring and issue resolution
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions
• Mentor junior data engineers and review work from external consultants
• Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Databases and Databricks to ensure performance
• Lead data management best practices and drive tool/process improvements
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and documentation
• Consult and lead around business intelligence and analytics platforms
