Job summary

Tango is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its data engineering team in the US. You will design and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS-native services, own the dbt transformation layer, and optimize our data warehouse stack (Redshift, Postgres, TimescaleDB).

You will ensure data quality with automated validation, monitor pipeline costs, and collaborate with product and analytics teams to deliver high-performance datasets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency with Python and SQL and modern data engineering frameworks.
• Deep experience with AWS data services (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, RDS/Postgres).
• Hands-on experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration, and tuning.
• Experience with production databases (Postgres, TimescaleDB, etc).
• Solid understanding of data modeling (OLTP/OLAP, star schema) and warehousing.
• Experience with data quality frameworks, validation, and monitoring.
• Production experience with dbt: models, tests, sources, CI workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS-native services.
• Develop automated workflows to ingest, transform, and validate large volumes of data.
• Monitor pipeline performance, reliability, and cost efficiency; implement improvements.
• Own the transformation layer in dbt and ensure dataset validation against sources.
• Manage and optimize production databases and data warehouse.
• Implement database performance tuning, indexing, and schema evolution best practices.
• Oversee data retention, partitioning, and backups.
• Build automated data validation frameworks and anomaly detection.
• Establish data quality SLAs across ingestion and reporting layers.
• Maintain metadata, lineage, and documentation for auditability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on APIs and data contracts.
• Support analytics teams with curated datasets and high-performance queries.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve observability.
