Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions that support analytics, reporting, and cloud platforms.

The role emphasizes data quality, APIs, and microservices while partnering with stakeholders across the organization. The position is hybrid and requires reporting to the Austin office at least three days a week, with preference for candidates within a 50-minute radius of Temple, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related field.
• Strong Python programming for data engineering and automation.
• Advanced SQL development and query optimization.
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise data pipelines.
• Experience building RESTful APIs & microservices.
• Familiarity with data quality, integrity and governance principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines for operational and analytical workloads.
• Build scalable microservices and APIs for data integration, ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to move and transform data across enterprise systems.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, integrity, and consistency throughout the data lifecycle.
• Create scalable solutions for batch and near real-time data processing.
• Design and implement data validation, monitoring, reconciliation, and auditing processes.
• Collaborate with application teams, stakeholders, and architects to define data requirements and integration strategies.
• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot data-related issues.
• Develop reusable frameworks and automation to improve data engineering efficiency.
• Participate in architecture reviews and promote best practices for data management and governance.
• Support cloud-based data platforms and modernization initiatives.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and DevOps practices for data engineering solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and procedures.
