Job summary

VT-ARC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead enterprise data architectures, data integration, and AI-enabled analytics. You will work across cloud and hybrid environments to design scalable data platforms including data lakes, meshes, warehouses, and knowledge graphs.

You will collaborate with mission stakeholders, translate operational needs into data pipelines, and advance metadata governance while delivering decision-support capabilities for critical operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as CS/Data Science/Engineering.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or analytics.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to work in secure environments.
• Experience designing data lakes/meshes/warehouses and knowledge graphs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical SME for enterprise data architecture, data engineering, and advanced analytics initiatives.
• Translate mission requirements into scalable data pipelines, workflows, and integration solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data architectures supporting structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Develop and implement data models, ontologies, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and governance standards.
• Engineer data ingestion, transformation, normalization, and enrichment across sources.
• Support data lakes, data meshes, data warehouses, and knowledge graph solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical data solutions and release architectures.
• Prepare technical briefings, diagrams, and implementation strategies.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and AI/ML capabilities for mission impact.
