Job summary

BMO Financial Group seeks a Senior Data Engineer - Reporting Automation & AI in Downtown Chicago. Design, develop, and maintain automated reporting solutions to improve risk reporting efficiency, accuracy, and scalability; bridge raw risk data to timely reports.

The role combines reporting automation, AI-enabled workflows, Python and SQL development, and data warehousing expertise. Hybrid work: 3 days in office, with Tuesday in-person, aligning with risk and reporting teams to modernize SAS

Qualifications

4+ years in reporting automation or data development with advanced SQL.
2+ years Python and Shell scripting for automation.
2+ years integrating AI-enabled workflows via APIs or tooling.
1 year Power BI and Power Query experience.
1 year Git version control experience.
3+ years dimensional modeling and modern data warehouse concepts.
SAS-to-Python migration experience preferred.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong collaboration and clear communication with data-reporting teams.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated reporting solutions for risk reporting.
Build AI-enabled workflows to streamline data prep, validation, and report generation.
Develop Python and Shell apps to support automation and system health monitoring.
Modernize legacy reporting into scalable pipelines including SAS-to-Python migration.
Design data marts and star schemas for Power BI consumption; optimize SQL queries.
