Job summary

BMO U.S. seeks a Senior Data Engineer - Reporting Automation & AI to design, develop, and maintain automated reporting solutions that enhance risk reporting efficiency and accuracy.

You will bridge raw risk data to timely reports, create AI-enabled workflows, and modernize legacy processes in a hybrid Chicago-based role. You will specialize in Python/Shell automation, SQL optimization, and data warehousing concepts while collaborating with risk teams to deliver scalable, reliable reporting

Qualifications

• 4+ years in reporting automation or data development with advanced SQL.
• 2+ years Python and Shell scripting for automation.
• 2+ years integrating AI functionality via APIs or similar tooling.
• 1 year of Power BI and Power Query experience.
• 3+ years in dimensional modeling and modern data warehousing concepts.
• Experience SAS-to-Python modernization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated reporting solutions for risk reporting processes.
• Build AI-enabled workflows to streamline data prep, validation, and report generation.
• Develop Python and Shell applications to support automation and monitoring.
• Modernize legacy reporting pipelines from SAS to Python-based solutions.
• Design data marts and star schemas for Power BI consumption.
• Write optimized SQL queries for accurate, high-performing outputs.
• Collaborate with data-reporting teams to ensure data integrity and clear communication.
