Job description

What’s Under the Hood

DriveTime Family of Brands is the largest privately owned used car sales finance & servicing company in the nation. Headquartered in Tempe, Arizona and Dallas, Texas, we create opportunities and improve the lives of our customers and our employees by placing a focus on putting the right customer, in the right vehicle, on the right terms and on their path to ownership. The DriveTime Family of Brands spans across DriveTime, Bridgecrest and SilverRock. You can find us at the intersection of technology and innovation as we use our proprietary tools and over two decades of industry knowledge to redefine the process of purchasing, financing, and protecting your vehicle.

This is not a position for which sponsorship will be provided. Individuals with temporary visas or who need sponsorship now or in the future are not eligible for hire at this time.

In short, we are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the development, modeling, optimization, and governance of our data processes: growth of our agentic programming practices, transactional support for applications, and consumption and generation of external data to and from our key partners.

This role is pivotal in enabling business teams, analytics, and our vendor partners with performant, high-quality, bleeding-edge solutions to all the challenges that a rapidly growing company faces.

In long, as a member of SilverRock Data, you will contribute to the delivery and design of scalable processes and data models using Snowflake, SQL, Python, and Kafka; all while integrating best practices in performance optimization, data quality, and CI/CD workflows via GitHub or Azure DevOps.

You will mentor and collaborate closely with fellow engineers, interface with product leadership, and partner with analysts to translate complex data requirements into stable, trusted processes and data structures – all in an AI-first, Agile framework.

So What Kind of Folks Are We Looking For?

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy partnering with both technical and non-technical teams. You have a passion for solving complex business problems through scalable and elegant data solutions.

You embrace an AI-first mindset and actively seek opportunities to improve processes through automation and emerging technologies.

You are naturally curious, continuously learning, and excited about modern data engineering practices.

You take ownership of outcomes and approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset.

You enjoy mentoring others and helping elevate the capabilities of those around you.

You communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

You balance technical excellence with business value and understand how data drives organizational success.

You are adaptable, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-growing and evolving environment.

The Specifics

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related data discipline.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Advanced SQL expertise supporting both transactional and analytical/reporting workloads.

  • Experience working with SQL Server and modern cloud data platforms, particularly Snowflake.

  • Proven experience building end-to-end data pipelines and supporting near real‑time data integration using technologies such as Kafka, Confluent, CDC, and Snowflake.

  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, normalized design, and enterprise data architecture principles.

  • Proficiency in Python for automation, data processing, data validation, and integrations.

  • Experience with dbt and modern ELT development methodologies.

  • Hands‑on experience with Argo or similar workflow orchestration platforms.

  • Experience utilizing Git-based version control and CI/CD workflows through GitHub or Azure DevOps.

  • Demonstrated success leveraging AI and machine learning concepts for automation, predictive insights, anomaly detection, or intelligent workflow improvements.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to mentor teammates and contribute to team growth and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in an AI‑first engineering environment.

  • Experience with agentic programming practices and AI-assisted software development workflows.

  • Background supporting both operational applications and enterprise analytics platforms.

  • Experience in high‑growth organizations where scalability, performance, and rapid delivery are key success factors.

  • Exposure to vendor integrations, external data exchange frameworks, and partner‑facing data solutions.
