Job summary

HCA Healthcare in Nashville, TN is hiring a Senior Data Engineer onsite to lead enterprise data platforms on Google Cloud Platform. This role combines technical ownership with people leadership, pairing scalable architecture and ETL/ELT development with mentorship and cross-functional partnership.

You’ll work with Terraform IaC, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Python, BigQuery, and data warehouse design, building batch and streaming pipelines while ensuring data quality, lineage, and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Information Technology experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3+ years in a technical lead role or mentoring engineering teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for enterprise data engineering and cloud platform initiatives.

Job description

HCA Healthcare is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Nashville, TN (onsite) to help lead enterprise data platforms and modern data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. This role combines technical ownership with people leadership, pairing scalable architecture and ETL/ELT development with mentorship and cross-functional partnership. What you’ll do

• Serve as the technical lead for enterprise data engineering and cloud platform initiatives.


• Lead the architecture and implementation of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting analytics and operational systems.


• Design and optimize data models, BigQuery datasets, and enterprise data warehouse solutions.


• Build batch and streaming pipelines using Cloud Composer (Airflow), Pub/Sub, and Python.


• Design, build, and maintain Google Cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices.


• Administer key cloud services and controls including IAM, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, plus networking, logging, monitoring, and security controls.


• Establish CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure and application deployments.


• Implement data quality, lineage, validation, monitoring, and observability standards.


• Optimize BigQuery workloads using efficient SQL, data modeling, partitioning, and clustering for performance and cost efficiency.


• Optimize SQL performance across large datasets through partitioning, indexing, and query execution improvements.


• Mentor engineers through code and architecture reviews, and establish engineering standards and governance.


• Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.


• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Business teams on solution design and reviews.

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years of experience in Information Technology (required).


• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (preferred).


• 3+ years experience in a technical lead role or mentoring engineering teams (preferred).


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Ability to establish effective working relationships and manage multiple priorities.


• Understanding of the vision of enterprise development tools and platforms.
