Job summary

Centene Corporation seeks a data engineer to design, develop, and operationalize data pipelines on Snowflake and AWS for reports and advanced analytics.

You will translate business needs into scalable technical designs, ensure data quality, and support cloud modernization while collaborating with Agile teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of data engineering, data warehousing, or integration experience.
  • Advanced SQL, Snowflake, data modeling, and Python experience.
  • Knowledge of data quality, validation, reconciliation, automated testing, and monitoring.

Job description

Position Purpose:

Develops and operationalizes data pipelines to make data available for consumption (reports and advanced analytics), including data ingestion, data transformation, data validation / quality, data pipeline optimization, and orchestration. Engages with the DevSecOps Engineer during continuous integration and continuous deployment.

  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Snowflake and AWS data pipelines, reporting solutions, and data products.
  • Build scalable ingestion, transformation, validation, and publishing processes.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs, user stories, process flows, and scalable solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, operational runbooks, and supporting artifacts.
  • Integrate data across Member, Provider, Claims/Encounter, Quality, and Financial domains.
  • Implement data quality, monitoring, validation, reconciliation, automated testing, and exception-management frameworks.
  • Support cloud modernization and migration of legacy platforms to Snowflake and AWS.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Establish engineering best practices across source control, CI/CD, automation, testing, documentation, and cloud architecture.
  • Collaborate effectively within Agile delivery teams through planning, estimation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to influence outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and deliver high-quality data solutions.
Education/Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science). Requires 4 – 6 years of related experience or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.

Technical Skills
  • 4-6+ years of data engineering, data warehousing, or integration experience.
  • Advanced SQL, Snowflake, data modeling, query optimization, stored procedures, and Python experience.
  • Cloud ETL/ELT, large-scale batch processing, production support, and stakeholder solution design.
  • AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, Git/GitLab, and Control-M or equivalent scheduling.
  • Knowledge of data quality, validation, reconciliation, automated testing, performance optimization, and monitoring.
  • Experience developing analytical and reporting datasets across member, provider, claims, quality, and financial domains.
  • Proficiency with Git/GitLab, CI/CD, automation, and modern engineering practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and production support skills.
Nice to Have
  • Visual Studio, SSIS/SSMS, VBA/Excel automation, BI tools, Streamlit, or AI-assisted engineering.
  • Healthcare, claims/provider, value-based care, financial, or regulated reporting experience.
  • Cloud migration, CI/CD, data governance, data quality, and master data management.

Pay Range: $87,000.00 - $161,300.00 per year
