Job summary

Centene Corporation is seeking a Data Scientist III to support Ambetter membership forecasting and reporting through predictive models, analytic frameworks, and data products used in financial planning, pricing, and strategic decision-making.

You will translate complex market dynamics into actionable projections, design data assets and pipelines, and collaborate with teams to monitor program outcomes and communicate results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree with 5+ years of quantitative data science experience in data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with database technologies (Teradata, MS SQL Server, Snowflake).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop data models to predict member outcomes or future impact of key member decisions
  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain machine learning models and forecasting methodologies for Marketplace membership and outcomes
  • Build and manage data assets, feature pipelines, and analytical datasets that support forecasting and reporting
  • Conduct exploratory analysis to identify trends, market changes, and drivers impacting forecast performance
  • Design analysis tools to extract data and store results for business needs
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis from complex data sources and build datasets supporting Centene's mission
  • Evaluate experiments to monitor metrics and identify improvements
  • Develop mathematical models to distinguish content/events and recognize patterns
  • Present results of research analysis and findings to stakeholders
  • Contribute to automated, scalable analytic processes
  • Validate health management program outcomes using SAS, R, and other tools
  • Manage multiple projects and assist training Data Analysts
  • Collaborate with technical teams gathering requirements, documenting, testing, delivering, and driving adoption

Job description

Position Purpose: The Data Scientist III supports Ambetter membership forecasting and reporting through the development of predictive models, analytic frameworks, and data products used in financial planning, pricing, and strategic decision-making. The role is responsible for translating complex and evolving market dynamics into actionable membership projections, combining statistical and machine learning approaches with deep analysis of regulatory, competitive, operational, and product-level changes.

Key Details: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Sponsorship and future sponsorship are not available for this opportunity, including employment-based visa types H-1B, L-1, O-1, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, or CPT

  • Design and develop data models to predict member outcomes or future impact of key member decisions
  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain machine learning models, statistical models, and forecasting methodologies used to project Marketplace membership and related business outcomes
  • Build and manage data assets, feature engineering pipelines, and analytical datasets that support forecasting and reporting processes
  • Conduct exploratory analysis to identify emerging trends, structural market changes, and business drivers impacting forecast performance
  • Design and construct analysis tools that extract, and analyze data and store analytical results in an appropriate format for business needs.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis from complex data sources and build key data sets to support Centene's mission.
  • Evaluate and design experiments to monitor key metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop mathematical and statistical models to distinguish relevant content or events and recognize patterns.
  • Participate in presentations and communicate results of research analysis and findings.
  • Participate in the design of automated, operational analytics processes to achieve scale and durability of analysis processes.
  • Validate and measure the outcomes of health management programs using SAS, R and other tools, to include provider data, claims data, membership data
  • Manage multiple projects as assigned and assist with training Data Analysts.
  • Responsible for development efforts with technical team liaisons, including gathering business requirements, documentation, testing, delivery and user adoption, and communicate expectations to the Health Plan.

Knowledge/Experience: Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Informatics, Econometrics, Engineering, Experimental Science with 5+ years of experience or Bachelors degree and 7+ years of quantitative analysis experience in data science capabilities including data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical modeling, large scale data acquisition, transformation, and structured and unstructured data analysis. Pay Range: $107,700.00 - $199,300.00 per year

Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law, including full-time or part-time status. Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives. Benefits may be subject to program eligibility.
