Job summary

Chen Medical Associates is seeking a data engineer to build and optimize our data infrastructure and BI capabilities. You will design pipelines in Snowflake, implement dbt models, and develop SQL queries and dashboards to turn raw data into actionable insights for data-driven decisions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL and Python skills, experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines in Snowflake with ETL/ELT approaches.
• Implement and manage scalable data models and transformations using dbt with Snowflake.
• Create and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and UDFs in Snowflake.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics with Snowflake and BI tools.
• Collaborate with data architects, DBAs, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Identify and resolve data quality issues to improve data integrity.
• Document data processes and code to support knowledge transfer.
• Mentor junior team members on Snowflake best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Build and optimize data infrastructure and Business Intelligence capabilities that turn raw data into actionable insights for data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines in Snowflake using efficient ETL (Extract Transform Load) and/or ELT (Extract Load, Transform) approaches while following data warehouse best practices
• Implement and manage scalable data models and transformations using dbt (Data Build tool) with Snowflake
• Create and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions in Snowflake
• Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions using Snowflake and compatible BI tools
• Partner with data architects, DBAs, and other stakeholders to deliver data solutions that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable
• Identify and resolve data quality issues to improve data integrity across systems
• Document data processes, architectures, and code to support knowledge transfer and maintainability
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on Snowflake best practices
• Perform other duties as assigned and modified at the manager’s discretion

Requirements

• Advanced-level business acuity and strong understanding of core job functions, practices, processes, procedures, techniques, and methods
• Extensive Snowflake experience, including data modeling, performance tuning, and security features
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Python or other programming languages
• Expert knowledge of data warehouse concepts and modern data architectures
• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus data integration tools
• Familiarity with BI tools compatible with Snowflake, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); competency in other required systems
• Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and/or nationally up to 10%, and to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
• Spoken and written fluency in English
• Ability to use and exercise independent judgment

Education and Experience Criteria

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred or additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of required education on a year-for-year basis
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in data engineering or related roles
• Experience with real-time data streaming and processing
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their data requirements
• Familiarity with data governance and security best practices
• Experience in the healthcare or finance industry
