Job summary

Amer Sports in Garching is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and scale our enterprise data platform across global brands such as Salomon, Arc’teryx, and Wilson. You will lead end-to-end data products and collaborate with cross-brand teams to deliver trusted, interoperable data.

You’ll blend hands-on engineering with technical leadership, shape governance, CI/CD practices, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including at least 3 years with Databricks in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience designing and operating end-to-end data products across the Medallion architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building scalable, reusable data pipelines using Databricks, Delta Live Tables, Auto Loader, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
  • Developing and maintaining end-to-end data products across the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Delivering trusted and discoverable data assets via Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Power BI, APIs, and Delta Sharing.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across brands to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentoring engineers and driving adoption of CI/CD, standards, and reusable design patterns.

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer for Amer Sports’ office in Garching,

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and scaling Amer Sports’ enterprise data platform. You will design, build, and own end-to-end data products, enabling trusted, reusable, and interoperable data across globally recognized brands such as Salomon, Arc’teryx, Peak Performance, Atomic, and Wilson. This role combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, offering the opportunity to influence engineering standards, mentor other engineers, and contribute to the evolution of a modern federated data ecosystem.

What you will be doing
  • Designing and building scalable, reusable data pipelines using Databricks, Delta Live Tables, Auto Loader, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
  • Developing and maintaining end-to-end data products across the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Delivering trusted and discoverable data assets consumable through Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Power BI, APIs, and Delta Sharing.
  • Optimizing pipelines and data products for scalability, reliability, cost efficiency, and performance.
  • Implementing automated data quality monitoring, lineage tracking, and governance standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across brands and functions to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contributing to and driving adoption of engineering standards, best practices, CI/CD principles, and reusable design patterns.
  • Acting as a technical reference point and mentor for junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting cross-brand collaboration and helping shape the future direction of the enterprise data platform.
  • Monitoring platform health, supporting incident resolution, and driving continuous improvements.
  • You will report to the Director of Data Engineering.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including at least 3 years working with Databricks in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience designing and operating end-to-end data products across the Medallion architecture.
  • Experience working in distributed, multi-team, or multi-brand environments.
  • Ability to balance hands‑on delivery with technical leadership and platform thinking.
Technical Expertise
  • Deep expertise in Apache Spark (PySpark), Delta Lake, SQL, and Databricks Workflows.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, Auto Loader, and Databricks SQL.
  • Advanced Python skills for data engineering, testing, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of Git‑based workflows, CI/CD principles, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with Azure technologies including Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage / ADLS, and Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of data quality frameworks and governance tooling such as Great Expectations or Delta constraints.
  • Familiarity with modern data platform interoperability, including data sharing and integration across Databricks, SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), and Snowflake.
Languages & Certifications
  • Professional proficiency in English is required.
  • Preferred certifications (not mandatory):
    • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional
    • Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark
    • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
    • Azure Fundamentals
