Job summary

Smart Synergies in Fort Belvoir, VA seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own data pipelines, models, and ontology supporting Army acquisition and operations. You will build authoritative data products and ensure data quality, security, and observability across enterprise sources.

You'll collaborate with software engineers, product designers, and stakeholders, mentor engineers, and establish engineering standards for testing, source control, deployment, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering/IS or equivalentpractical experience.
• Eight+ years of experience building production data systems.
• Strong proficiency with Python and SQL.
• Experience designing data pipelines and products on enterprise data platforms.
• Experience with data modeling, ontology, data quality, and lineage.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, source control, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Experience supporting a DoD customer.
• Active Secret clearance.

• Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and modern data‑engineering patterns.
• Experience designing data pipelines and products on enterprise data platforms.
• Experience with data modeling, ontology, data quality, and lineage.
• Strong software‑engineering fundamentals, including testing, source control, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Experience supporting a Department of Defense customer.
• Active Secret clearance.
