Job summary

FIS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain reliable data solutions across cloud and legacy platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with SQL, DBT, Snowflake, Python, and Spark, and familiarity with integrating AWS services, IBM DataStage, and mainframe data including COBOL copybooks.

The role emphasizes modernizing data pipelines, applying CI/CD, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, cost-efficient data workloads.

Qualifications

• Significant professional software engineering or data engineering 5+ years of experience.
• Strong SQL skills, including query development, optimization, and data modeling.
• Hands‑on experience with DBT and Snowflake.
• Proficiency in Python and experience building data-processing solutions with Apache Spark.
• Experience with AWS data services and cloud-based application or pipeline deployment.
• Knowledge of IBM DataStage and enterprise data integration patterns.
• Familiarity with mainframe data formats and the ability to interpret COBOL copybooks.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize DBT models and Snowflake workloads, with attention to performance, data quality, and cost.
• Develop data-processing applications and automation using Python and Apache Spark.

• Support and modernize existing IBM DataStage workflows while enabling migration to cloud-based platforms.
• Apply software engineering practices such as version control, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, architecture, and operations teams to translate requirements into dependable data solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve pipeline reliability, observability, and operational support.

What Are We Looking for in This Role?

Required Qualifications

• Familiarity with Agile delivery and CI/CD practices.
• Good understanding of data lake concepts, ETL patterns, data modeling, distributed data processing.
• Experience developing and supporting production data pipelines
