Job summary

Wooga is seeking a high-impact Senior Data Engineer to join our Berlin data engineering team. You will design data infrastructure powering analytics, AI workflows, and agentic data processes, bridging strategy and execution across pipelines and data assets.

You will work with a modern stack (Python, SQL, Scala/Java/Go) and cloud platforms (Snowflake, dbt, Airflow) while upholding CI/CD and IaC practices. This role offers hybrid work with relocation support if needed.

Qualifications

• In-depth professional experience as a software or data engineer.
• Strong background in senior data engineering roles with advanced proficiency in Python and complex SQL.
• Deep experience with a strongly-typed language such as Scala, Java, or Go for building resilient data services.
• Practical experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake), dbt and orchestration tools like Airflow.

Responsibilities

• Design and build resilient, scalable data infrastructure optimized for analytical workflows, feature stores, real-time context delivery, and AI-ready data for analysts and LLM apps.
• Build, maintain, and optimize robust batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and dbt.
• Architect data warehousing and lakehouse solutions on Snowflake with cost-efficiency and performance in mind.
• Develop agentic workflows and AI-enabled data processes, including monitoring, data quality checks, and governance.

We are looking for a high-impact, proactive Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team in Berlin. In this role, you won’t just build pipelines—you will architect the data foundation that powers our next generation of casual games and advanced analytics, and AI-driven workflows. You will be in an environment where you can take full ownership of business outcomes, bridge technical execution with strategy, and proactively identify opportunities to optimize and scale our data transformation journey.

About the job

• Data Architecture & Strategy: Design and build resilient, scalable data infrastructure optimized for analytical workflows, feature stores, real-time context delivery, and AI-ready, well-documented data for agents and LLM applications.
• Modern Pipeline Engineering: Build, maintain, and optimize robust batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines using Scala, Python, SQL and dbt.
• Data Warehousing & Lakehouse: Architect clean, cost-efficient, and highly performance schemes across our cloud data warehouse platform on Snowflake.
• AI-Enabled Engineering & Agentic Workflows: Use AI as a daily force multiplier, not only for writing code but across the data lifecycle, from design and documentation to testing, debugging, and incident triage. Design, build, and operate agentic workflows (for example, agents that monitor pipelines, investigate data quality issues, generate and validate dbt models, or answer analysts' questions against governed data), with proper guardrails, evaluation, and observability.
• Quality, Reliability & Governance: Implement automated testing, observability, and monitoring frameworks to guarantee high data reliability and low latency.
• Engineering Excellence & Best Practices: Follow rigorous CI/CD practices, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), version control, and clear documentation across all data assets.
• Cross-Functional Enablement: Collaborate closely with marketing managers, game teams, product managers, and data analysts to turn ambiguous business needs into high-impact data solutions.

About you

• Relevant Experience: In-depth professional experience as a software engineer or data engineer.
• Data Engineering Expertise: Strong background in senior data engineering roles with advanced proficiency in Python and complex SQL.
• Strong Core Programming: Deep professional experience in a strongly-typed language such as Scala, Java, or Go for building resilient data services.
• Modern Stack Mastery: Practical experience with cloud data platforms (favorable Snowflake), dbt and orchestration tools (we use Airflow).
• AI & Agentic Experience: Hands-on experience applying AI tools in your engineering work and building agentic workflows, including tool use or MCP integrations, orchestration, and evaluation. You know where agents add real value, where human review is essential, and how to keep them reliable, secure, and cost-aware.
• Software Engineering Mindset: Deep familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD, unit testing, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Proactive & Impact-Driven: Autonomous problem solver who evaluates technical decisions based on speed-to-market, business value, and ROI rather than theoretical complexity.
• Collaborative Communicator: Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical architecture to both engineering peers and business stakeholders.
