Job summary

CBTS is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and integration of enterprise data platforms. You will build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory, tune high‑performance T-SQL, and mentor engineers as part of a growing data team.

Healthcare data experience is a strong plus — you’ll work with clinical systems, EMRs, HR, Finance, and CRM data while partnering with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of database development experience
• 3+ years hands-on Azure Data Factory experience
• 2+ years working with healthcare, financial, or other highly regulated data
• 1+ years of experience with Python
• Advanced T-SQL and SQL Server expertise, including query tuning and indexing strategy
• Strong data modeling and schema design skills
• A track record of taking projects from concept to production
• Strong communication skills and comfort working across technical and business stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead integration efforts across Clinical/Practice Management systems, EMRs, HR, Accounting, CRM, and other enterprise sources
• Design and optimize SQL Server objects — tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, and data warehouse structures
• Tune complex T-SQL queries and ETL workloads using execution plans, indexing strategies, and query rewrites
• Troubleshoot performance issues: long-running queries, blocking, deadlocks, tempdb pressure, and inefficient ETL patterns
• Architect and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Python, and other Azure services
• Design pipelines that leverage AI/LLMs for extracting structured data from documents and unstructured sources
• Drive Master Data Management (MDM) strategy to ensure consistency and integrity across systems
• Establish data lineage, monitoring, and operational tracking practices
• Mentor junior engineers and help build a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
• Partner with stakeholders to translate evolving business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Evaluate emerging Azure capabilities through proofs of concept

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role: you'll write and tune high-performance T-SQL, architect scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory, and mentor engineers as part of a growing data team.
